Natural Footprint

Combining organic and inorganic materials to create a textured surface that changes over time. Detailed patterns of laser-cut wood is embossed into concrete allowing it to peel and decompose through natural means such as pollution and weathering. The result is a shadowy lace-like distorted effect that eventually falls off, leaving an aesthetic imprint in the concrete surface. Alessia Giardino creates a “symbiotic relationship” that permanently captures environmental data in a textured tile – a natural footprint.
